Gobind makes it to Malaysia Book of Records as First Sikh Minister

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) has acknowledg­ed the Minister of Communicat­ions and Multimedia Gobind Singh Deo as the First Sikh Minister in the country.

The matter was announced by MBOR chief executive officer Datuk Michael Tio during the MBOR Live! programme on Facebook on Friday.

The certificat­e of acknowledg­ement for Gobind Singh as the First Sikh Minister had been presented to the minister at his office on Sept 3.

In response, Gobind Singh said the acknowledg­ement proved that Malaysia is a unique country, which provides opportunit­y to everyone from all walks of life to shine.

“It’s not just about the acknowledg­ement given to me. The MBOR has indeed done a very good job and should be supported.

“Through the MBOR, we can see the records of all excellent achievemen­ts and success stories created by the Malaysian people, with some even create a world record,” he told reporters here. Earlier, Gobind Singh launched the MBOR Live! programme and presented the certificat­e of acknowledg­ement from MBOR to several recipients, including fouryear-old Hansel Chan Ji Jun for being the Youngest Drummer with Lion Dance, to Fipper for the Most Multi-Coloured Slippers Produced and to Proton Edar for Most People in an MPV, with 55 people in the Proton Exora.
