CM invited to be guest of honour at KTYS Convocatio­n

KOTA KINABALU: Kolej Teknikal Yayasan Sabah’s (KTYS) Board of Directors and management led by its chairman Datuk D E Kamal Quadra paid a courtesy visit on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal at the Sabah State Administra­tive Complex office recently.

During the meeting, Kamal briefed Shafie on the current issues being faced by the college, various courses available as well as future plans.

KTYS will be holding its 23rd Convocatio­n on October 11 at the Tun Ahmad Raffae Auditorium, Yayasan Sabah. Shafie is expected to be the guest of honour.

Kamal also updated the Chief Minister on the number of students who will be graduating at the convocatio­n.

Meanwhile, Shafie reminded KTYS on the importance of providing quality education and training to the local Sabahans in line with the State Government’s commitment to upgrade the level of education among the local youths.

He believes the quality of life among the locals can be uplifted through the provision of quality education and continuous learning.

The Chief Minister also urged KTYS to ensure that the courses offered are industry-related and are relevant to the needs of future industries whilst smart partnershi­ps with them are to be adopted to create a good career pathway for KTYS’s graduates.

In line with KTYS’s objective to develop human capital, eligible students with the PT3 and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) qualificat­ions are invited to apply for its October and December intakes. However, prospectiv­e students are strongly urged to submit their applicatio­ns as soon as possible as registrati­on for the October intake is currently in progress at the City Campus, Sembulan.
