-

PETALING JAYA: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday allowed an application by the police to exhume the body of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan who was killed in a fire in his house last June.

Magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham made the decision in chambers after hearing the application by an investigating officer representing the police.

It is understood that the application to exhume Nazrin’s body was made for a second postmortem to be conducted and the exhumation process will take place on Wednesday.

Earlier, several of Nazrin’s family members arrived at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex at about 9.40am and were seen leaving the building about 40 minutes later.

On Sept 4, Nazrin’s wife and her ex-husband were remanded for seven days to assist in investigations into the case while on Sept 9, the victim’s stepsons, aged 14 and 16 were also remanded.

On Sept 24, Nazrin’s sister-in-law and her husband were remanded for four days.

Nazrin died at his house in Mutiara Damansara here at about 12.20 pm on June 14.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief said the death of Nazrin had been reclassified as a murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code following an investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department that found traces of petrol at the scene.

Meanwhile, Fadzil in a statement yesterday said the second postmortem would be conducted following the dissatisfaction raised by Nazrin’s family member over the first autopsy report.

He said on Sept 24, police received a report from the victim’s brother who was dissatisfied with the post-mortem report issued by the Pathology Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

“Following the police report, we have discussed with the state prosecution director to carry out a procedure under Section 336 of the Criminal Procedure Code namely to exhume the body to enable a second post-mortem,” he said. Bernama
