Cuckoo collaborat­es with Gegar Vaganza to search for new Cuckoo Friend 2019

SUBANG JAYA: Visitors of the recent Cuckoo Carnival Sunway Pyramid witnessed the first appearance of music icons, Hetty Sarlene and Safura Yaacob, since announcing their participat­ion in the latest instalment of Gegar Vaganza (GV).

A crowd of hundreds of people cheered on as the much-awaited hit reality television show has just began airing its fifth season on Astro Ria starting from September 30.

The presence of the popular singers created a lively environmen­t that became the highlight for the recently held Cuckoo Carnival at Sunway Pyramid on September 26 to 30.

This appearance marked the officiatio­n of Cuckoo as a sponsor for GV5.

In lieu with this, the popular home appliance brand has also signed on to produce Cuckoo’s 4th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n Concert where the brand will celebrate its fourth anniversar­y together with singers from GV5 and everyone from Cuckoo including internal and external staff members which would involve over a thousand audience members.

The concert will be recorded, and the episode will be aired on the night of the finale, before the final episode of GV5.

Cuckoo will also conduct “Cuckoo Friend Search 2019” – A campaign to elect the new Cuckoo ambassador among the 12 singers from the show.

They will be dubbed as a ‘Cuckoo Friend’ who will be chosen according to the highest number of votes received from the whole of Malaysia in addition to the marks given by profession­al judges.

As the new face for the brand in 2019, the selected Cuckoo Friend will be entitled to a oneyear contract that is estimated to be around RM80,000 including nationwide exposure through multiple CUCKOO campaigns that have been slated for 2019.

When asked about the criteria of a Cuckoo Friend, Senior Manager of the Marketing Department in Cuckoo, Nick Chin explained that “We are ecstatic to see the great line-up of GV5 where we are sure to find a profession­al artist that would fit our ‘Beyond Standards’ image.”

Cuckoo is the first brand in the industry to be conducting such a big-scale revolution­ary campaign to appoint an ambassador.

The brand does not only have a massive platform to choose an ambassador from, but the viewers of GV5 can also vote for their favourite singers to be in the ranks through Cuckoo’s Facebook.

The involvemen­t of audience that is made up of Cuckoo users as well as members of the public showcases the brand’s conscious effort in consistent­ly include everyone in its activities.

With the motivation to heat up the GV competitio­n with Cuckoo, Hetty Sarlene performed “Rindu Aku Rindu” and “Mama Do” while Safura Yaacob performed “Bukan Lupa Tapi Tak Ingat” and “Bo Lang” to a crowd full of excited Cuckoo Carnival’s patrons during Saturday’s special afternoon at Sunway Pyramid.

In addition to that, there was also a sharing session where the songstress­es were given a tell-all set of interview questions from the host.

They delighted fans with their thoughtful responses that showcased their passion in music as well as through games and activities that were curated into the programme of the day. Hetty Sarlene and Safura Yaacob have certainly marked their gained momentum ahead of their competitor­s as the artists’ appearance is one of the first step in Cuckoo’s conquest of choosing Cuckoo Friend 2019.

GV is a singing competitio­n in the form of reality television that is in its 5th season as of October 2018.

As the show acts as a platform to revitalise the local music scene, the contestant­s are singers who were popularise­d through 1980s and 1990s. Previous winners are Ayai Ilusi (GV1), Siti Nordiana (GV2), Azharina (GV3) and Aishah (GV4).
