Trials kick off tomorrow for Kiulu KDMM league team
KOTA KINABALU: An open selection trial to choose players to represent Kiulu will be held at the Malangang town field at 2pm tomorrow.
The selection trial is open to anyone who is interested to represent Kiulu in the KDMM Football League 2019.
“We invite players from Tuaran, Tamparuli, Kiulu and other surrounding areas to join the selection trial.
“Players from outside the district are welcome too, provided they are ready to represent Kiulu and give full commitment to the team,” said Michael Angkui, who is a member of the selection panel.
Michael also reminded players to turn up early with complete football gear.
The KDMM Football League Tournament was scheduled to commence in January after the Charity Cup Match, which was slated to be held at the Keningau Stadium in December.
The KDMM Football League 2019 is the second edition after the staging of the inaugural tournament in 2014-2015.
In the last edition, Kiulu finished lowly in the bottom two among 15 teams.
This second edition of the KDMM Football League Tournament is being organised with the cooperation of the state Youth and Sports Ministry.
The tournament, which offers close to RM300,000 worth of cash prizes including RM100,000 for the champion, is limited to 32 teams.
Yesterday, Kota Kinabalu City Hall confirmed their participation, bringing the total number of confirmed registered teams to 29.
The other teams are KDMM Penampang, Melalap, Kemabong, Kota Belud, Kadamaian, Kiulu, Pitas, Matunggong, Kudat, Nabawan, Sook, Keningau, Kimanis, Papar, Sepanggar, Inanam, Ranau, Beaufort, Beluran, Kinabatangan, Semporna, Tambunan, Sipitang, Tawau, Putatan, Kepayan, Labuan and Tongod.
