Cultural Flower Floats Parade to celebrate Head of State's birthday
KOTA KINABALU: Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Sociey Penampang Sabah paid a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Juhar Haji Mahiruddin.
Organising chairman Tan Kok Jyh briefed Juhar on the “Cultural Flower Floats Parade” which is organised in conjunction with the Head of State's 65th Birthday and the Society's 16th Anniversary celebrations today at 6pm.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Christina Liew has been invited as the guest of honour.
The parade will start from former Wong Kwok Go-kart race course in Penampang to Jalan Bundusan, SGCC roundabout, Luyang Specialist Centre flyover, Bukit Padang and KK Tzer Ying Buddist Temple.
The whole route is about 6km and the event stage is near the Church of Mary Immaculate.
The design and construction of the floats will reflect the diversity of local culture.
The objectives of the event are to exhibit our rich and diverse cultures and ethnic groups in Sabah, further improve our national unity and strengthen our existing integration and harmony of the people of Sabah, and to promote our tourism sector.
Among those in the courtesy call were president Wong Sound Sing, advisor Datuk Frankie Lau, deputy president Christerpher Chiang, vice president Raymond Chong, hon secretary Raymond Lim, general officers Brian Loh, Wong Chung Ming, committee members Candy Wong, Fung Mou Poon and Catherine Wong.
