Ministry team to reflect races of Sabah — Ewon

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans will make up the state Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) team in its pursuit to transform the working culture for the people, said its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

Ewon said the move was made to battle the old perception that would compromise the mission of the ministry and its targeted working culture that is based on family, togetherness and right environment so civil servants can serve the people better.

“I want Sabah KPLB officers to be placed in the right place according to their talents and potential by taking into account the contribution and performance of their service over the years.

“If I was given a Key Performance Index (KPI) by the Honorable Chief Minister, I would also like to provide KPI to our team, to senior officials in this ministry,” he said when delivering his keynote address.

“First of all, let’s build a Sabah KPLB team that reflects the races of Sabah. I will continue to deliver inputs to the Honorable Chief Minister and the Honorable Sabah State Secretary on the need for participation of the Sabah people in the filling of posts at Sabah KPLB. I want to see the diversity of the Sabah races when I chair the cabinet’s post-cabinet meeting. We can make more unique and special decisions with this.

“I would also like to see the posts at Sabah’s KPLB to be rural people-friendly as they are the main customers of the ministry. I have been with the guests for several times during their visits at this ministry until the night as they come from far away just to express their concerns, problems, needs, suggestions and aspirations. So, I think, the filling of Sabah KPLB posts must take into account the civil servants who have served in district offices,” he added.

Ewon also urged the civil servants to take the opportunity to further their studies under the sponsorship of the ministry.
