LZS contributes RM11.8 mln to TKPM
SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) yesterday contributed RM11.8 million to the Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund (TKPM) to help finance medical treatments for the state's poor.
LZS chief coordinating officer, Abdul Basith Hamid, said a total of 18 hospitals and medical institutes in the state will receive the allocations from the fund.
“As the medical needs of the ‘asnaf' (needy) is increasing yearly, we will continue to focus on this.”
“The fund was established in 2008 to assist Selangor natives and residents who are receiving treatment at hospitals in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Besides medical treatment, the funds are also used to buy medical equipments,” he said at the handing over of the allocation at the Shah Alam Hospital, here, yesterday.
Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin presented the aids, witnessed by Selangor Menteri Besar's wife Masdiana Muhammad, LZS chairman Tan Sri Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, and Health Ministry deputy directorgeneral Datuk Dr Azman Abu Bakar.
Among the receiving institutions were Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), UKM Medical Centre (PPUKM), and Yayasan Institut Jantung Negara.
Meanwhile, LZS also agreed to contribute RM10,000 to each family of the six firemen who perished in the search and rescue operation in Puchong last Wednesday to alleviate their burden.
“The money, RM60,000 in total, will be given to the affected families soon,” said Abdul Basith.
