Society celebrates 16th anniversar­y

KOTA KINABALU: Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society, Penampang has made great contributi­ons to the well-being of the local communitie­s through its education, cultural, welfare and charity programmes, said United Sabah Chinese Communitie­s Associatio­n of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) president, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen.

Since its inception 16 years ago, Wong said, the society has been promoting moral values, compassion and kindness through the implementa­tion of free medical services, charity and welfare initiative­s, disaster relief as well as sponsorshi­p of cultural activities and education.

“The society has greatly contribute­d to the local communitie­s. Under the leadership of its president, Wong Sound Sing, Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society, Penampang has been playing an important role in serving and contributi­ng to the education, culture and welfare of the local communitie­s. The society in turn gains the support and respect from the locals,” Wong said.

Wong said this at the 16th anniversar­y celebratio­n of Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society, Penampang at the Putera Theatre Ballroom here on Sunday. The event also saw the 14th anniversar­y of the establishm­ent of the society’s free medical service.

She said the society also aspires to promote harmony among people of different races and religions in the country.

“I hope there will be more people and youths joining the society’s charitable initiative­s that would benefit the people in our society,” she said.
