Society celebrates 16th anniversary
KOTA KINABALU: Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society, Penampang has made great contributions to the well-being of the local communities through its education, cultural, welfare and charity programmes, said United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) president, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen.
Since its inception 16 years ago, Wong said, the society has been promoting moral values, compassion and kindness through the implementation of free medical services, charity and welfare initiatives, disaster relief as well as sponsorship of cultural activities and education.
“The society has greatly contributed to the local communities. Under the leadership of its president, Wong Sound Sing, Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society, Penampang has been playing an important role in serving and contributing to the education, culture and welfare of the local communities. The society in turn gains the support and respect from the locals,” Wong said.
Wong said this at the 16th anniversary celebration of Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society, Penampang at the Putera Theatre Ballroom here on Sunday. The event also saw the 14th anniversary of the establishment of the society’s free medical service.
She said the society also aspires to promote harmony among people of different races and religions in the country.
“I hope there will be more people and youths joining the society’s charitable initiatives that would benefit the people in our society,” she said.
