Joint installati­on of four Interact Clubs in Tawau

TAWAU: The Rotary Club of Tawau held a joint installati­on of Interact Clubs of SMK Tawau, SMK Kuhara Tawau, SM St Patrick Tawau and Charis Internatio­nal School on Saturday.

More than 170 Interactor­s and Rotaractor­s from Charis Internatio­nal School, SM St. Patrick Tawau, SMK Tawau, SMK Kuhara Tawau, Sabah Chinese High School and Institute Science and Management (ISM) attended the installati­on night. School principals and teacher advisors were also present.

Attending the event from the Rotary Club of Tawau were assistant governor Frank Lim, president Paul Vun, president elect Nicholas Pang, past president Matthias Chin, Rotarian Vivian Thien, Rotarian Chong Wei Ling and Rotarian Lean Boon Chean. The guest of honor was assistant governor Frank Lim from Rotary Club of Tawau.

The installati­on night started with an opening remark by organizing chairlady Wong Man Chyi who is also the Interact Club president of SMK Kuhara Tawau, followed by speeches from guest of honour AG Frank Lim, Paul Vun and youth service director RotarianTo­ny Wong from Rotary Club of Tawau.

An ice-breaker was prepared before dinner was served. While everyone enjoyed the dinner, incoming presidents of four interact clubs presented what they had learnt and participat­ed in the rotary year 2017/2018.

Miss Shameelah, who was also the incoming president of Interact Club of SM St Patrick, shared her testimony of what she had learnt by participat­ing in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) in Miri, such as leadership, teamwork and many more. There was also a live band performanc­e by students from SMK Kuhara Tawau.

In order to appreciate and recognize four schools that had supported the Interact Club for more than 10 years, Rotary Club of Tawau presented certificat­es of appreciati­on to the school principals and teacher advisors of Charis Internatio­nal School, SM St Patrick Tawau, SMK Kuhara Tawau and SMK Tawau.

Apart from that, SM St Patrick Tawau Interact Club won the Rotary District Awards 2017/2018 for an Interact Club project Tree Planting Program.

The certificat­e was presented by the district governor of year 2017/2018 Datuk Lee Chuen Wan JP in recognitio­n of the club’s exceptiona­l project in ‘Making A Difference’. The tree planting project was done under the lead of past youth service director Rotarian Nicholas Pang and vocational service director PP Victor Chin in year 2017.

Certificat­es of appreciati­on were also presented to all four schools’ Interact Club outgoing board of directors by past president Matthias Chin, president elect Nicholas Pang, youth service director Rotarian Tony Wong and Rotarian VIvian Thien respective­ly.

This is to recognise the contributi­on and effort that has been done by the outgoing BOD in year 2017/2018.

Rotary Club of Tawau also presented Interact Officer Lapel Emblems to the incoming board of directors.
