Christina not aware of ploy against PKR Youth chief

KOTA KINABALU: PKR Sabah chairman Datuk Christina Liew has expressed her happiness that PKR Youth chief Raymond Ahuar has been cleared of the rape allegations.

“I am glad to hear the confirmation from the CP (police commissioner) that after investigation they found him not in the wrong, so I am very happy,” she said.

Christina, who is also Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, also said that she was not aware of any ploy by other party members against Raymond.

However, when told that Raymond himself had mentioned that there was a ploy to tarnish his image ahead of the party’s election, Christina then said that if Raymond felt so, then it could be. Nevertheless, she reiterated that she has no idea of any ploy against him.

“I don’t know. Maybe there is some truth in it,” she said.

She added that it was normal for people to start spinning rumours during party elections.

“It has always been like this during election … it is quite normal,” she said.

Raymond is also the political secretary of Christina.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah recently confirmed that Raymond was not involved in the rape case that has been made viral on the social media.

He said that police had already apprehended a 31-yearold suspect in Keningau after the police report by two women claiming that they were raped.

The suspect was a local farmer from Keningau and had admitted to committing the offence on the two foreign women aged 23 and 36.

Meanwhile, Christina refused to comment on the 2014 case involving Borneo Samudera Sdn Bhd (BSSB) whereby she, along with two others, were ordered to pay RM557 million in damages by the High Court.

“The case is under appeal, so I cannot comment anything. That is the only thing I can say. Being a lawyer myself, we cannot comment on anything that is still under process,” she told reporters.

She said this after witnessing the launching of a book “The Building of the North Borneo Railway and The Founding of Jesselton” at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu yesterday.

Also present was Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai.
