Agong confers Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara on Kedah Sultan

ALOR SETAR: The Yang diPertuan Agong Sultan Mohamad V yesterday conferred the Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara (D.M.N) on the Sultan of Kedah Sultan Sallehuddi­n Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad represente­d the Agong in presenting the award to the Sultan yesterday.

Also present was the Sultanah of Kedah Sultanah Maliha Almarhum Tengku Ariff.

Sultan Sallehuddi­n who is the 29th Sultan of Kedah will be installed on Oct 22 at Istana Anak Bukit.

The award is usually conferred on Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong and the Malay Rulers who are newly installed.

Earlier, the prime minister arrived with his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali at 5.20 p.m, accompanie­d by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir and wife Tok Puan Norzieta Zakaria.

Also present at the ceremony were Tunku Bendahara Kedah Datuk Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah and wife Toh Puan Bendahara Kedah Datin Seri Diraja Puan Seri Datuk Nora Abdullah; Tunku Temenggong Kedah Datuk Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah as well as Tunku Laksamana Kedah Datuk Tunku Shazuddin Ariff Ibni Sultan Sallehuddi­n.
