Rhinos fans clubs raise money for Sabah player

KOTA KINABALU: Several of the Rhinos fans club combined to raise money to be donated to flanker Ummareng Bacok.

Newbaxter Tibin, who led the group of fans from various fans club, said the sum of RM1,500 would be handed over to Ummareng to ease the burden on his family following the demise of his father in Sandakan on Saturday.

Newbaxter said this during the team training session at the Likas Stadium yesterday.

According to him, they thought of initially donating the money to the state squad following reports of late salary payment.

“After discussion with all the fans clubs, we agreed that the money should be donated to Um mar eng ... hopefully this will ease his burden financiall­y,” he said while adding they would try to meet up with him or his family members to pass the donation.

Meanwhile, Newbaxter pledged that the various fans clubs in the state would give their fullest supports to the Rhinos as they look to overturn a five-goal deficit against Perak in the Malaysia Cup second leg tie here on October 21.

“It’s an uphill task to turn the tables on Perak but this is our time to show our loyalty to the team who work hard to reach the semifinals.

“Sabah team have come this far in the tournament and we must go all out to support our beloved team,” he said.
