Repairs, maintenance for two Tawau villages

-

TAWAU: More than 1,800 villagers of Kampung Serudung Baru and Kg Iban Kuala Nansang, which are accessible via the access road from Batu 15, Jalan Apas here will benefit from an improved standard of living shortly once the new government has implemented a series of ambitious development projects for the two villages.

The villagers have suffered from insufficient village development since many years ago and have always felt left out from enjoying good and comprehensive basic facilities in their villages.

Tawau Member of Parliament Datuk Christina Liew, who was represented by her Chief Communication Officer cum Apas Community Development Leader, Fung Thin Yein and his team visited both villages on Tuesday to identify the applicable locations for development.

Fung said their first priority is to provide repairing and maintenance services to the village facilities such as village road damage, bridge damage, dilapidated halls, mosques, church, schools, drainage system and others.

Meanwhile, they are also planning to build a roofed shelter at the open space in the school compound of SK Serudung Baru and repair the school hall.

The members of Baptish church Kg Serudung Baru also sought help from the government to dredge the ditch nearby the church in order to prevent flooding during rainy season.

Fung also distributed 10 pieces of plywood to villagers in Kg Iban Kuala Nansang here for house repairs.

In the afternoon, he and team proceeded to survey a dilapidated bridge at Jalan Apas Batu 15, followed by the Community Hall Kg Batu 22, Balung and Nurul Hidayat mosque Kg Batu Payung Tawau.

Also present were the candidate for the People’s Justice Party (PKR) Tawau Woman Section Head Lau Jin Nah and Tawau Municipal Council officer Amrullah Abbas.
