LDP vice presidents successful­ly defend their posts

KOTA KINABALU: Incumbent Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) vice presidents Datuk Chin Shu Ying and Datuk Mok Cheh Hung @ Mok Kiong successful­ly defended their posts in the party elections on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Yew Chau Khiong, Ng Tet Hau and Datuk Wong Kon Fan were elected as vice presidents among eight candidates as well.

The party released its election results yesterday (Oct 22), which saw a mix of new and old faces in the top echelon, Central Youth and Women Movements.

Only five leaders were elected to their posts unconteste­d for the 2018 to 2021 term, namely the president Datuk Chin Su Phin, deputy president Datuk Lim Ming Hoo, Central Youth Movement leader Sim Fui and his deputy Lam Jin Dak, and Central Women Movement leader Wong Kuen Yin.

The 20 elected Supreme Council members are David Ong Choon Chung, Chia Butf Shan @ Chiang Bhat Sing, Dexter Lim Ming Guan, Wong Min Kong, Fam Tze Sin, Chong Su Vun, Wong Chung On, Shim Tshin Choo, Alex Chee Kim Heng, Yii Ming Seng, Chin Hock Siong@ Simon, Chung Kiam Fui, Thien Kui Sang, Goh Soo Yee, Ng Kwan Loong, Lam Jin Dak, Chin Kiang Ming, Lee Su Ket, Jin Tze Vun and Chong Thien Ming.

Chin has appointed Datuk Yong Wui Chung and Datuk Albert Ngan as secretaryg­eneral and treasurer-general respective­ly.

He congratula­ted the elected leaders and advised those who lost not be dishearten­ed and continue to serve the party.

Chin was also pleased to learn that around three quarters of the Supreme Council members are young, new faces.

For the Central Youth Movement, Mok Chuang Kun, Chiang Bat Chan and Chin Vun Pheaw were elected as assistant leaders, while Quincy Poong Gui Cheng, Ng Kwan Loong, Loong Kok Seng, Daryl Wong Ming Fui, Brian Lee Hung Liang, Ng Yee Jiun, Joseph Kong Yin Jee, Saw Eng Seng, Wom Tzy Khang, Steve Chong Zhin Khen, Lee Yee Ming and Tsen Vui Kiong secured a spot in the committee.

On the other hand, Goh Soo Yee was elected as deputy leader for the Central Women Movement, whereas Wong Pui Yun, Sim Lee Fui and Chong Oi Chin are the assistant leaders for the new term.

The committee members for the Central Women Movement are Kuo Pui Ling, Chin Yu Erh, Chloe Wong Wan Feei, Shelly Khung Oi Chu, Chin Kuin Yin, Stefanie Chong Yuk Ling, Fan Lee Vui, Vun Lan Yin, Carol Lo Phit Hah, Lee Phui Fun, Lee Yun Chu and Faridah Abdullah Koh.

Also present was immediate past president Datuk Seri Panglima Teo Chee Kang.
