PKR election will be smooth despite probe on candidates — Liew

-

PENAMPANG: This weekend’s PKR Sabah election will not be affected by the graft investigations on an alleged bankrupt candidate with two identity cards and a PKR Kimanis candidate accused of bribery, said PKR Sabah chairman Datuk Christina Liew.

“Happy sailing. Peaceful and happy sailing,” said Liew.

“If you have one or two or even three cases, take it as normal and we would tackle it as it happens. My handphone would be on full standby mode for 24 hours on the third and fourth,” she added.

Liew said it would be unfair to let bad apples, if there are any, spoil the 147,000 Sabah members’ reputation.

“PKR Sabah got 147,000 members. So out of 147,000 members, now we have allegedly two cases. Let’s wait for the results of the investigation by the relevant authority,” she said after launching the Aritco Home Lift grand opening ceremony at I-Plaza Commercial Center here yesterday.

“In context of Sabah PKR elections, I don’t find it as exciting as in Semenanjung. Basically, I find the voters overall are very mature. They will know what to do and how to act, how to vote, what to wear. They choose what they like to be their leaders, whether in the division or in the central level.

“Perhaps it (the allegations leading to the arrests) is just a hearsay, I don’t know. Since it’s in the hands of the authorities, I’ll wait for the results. Don’t just because of one member and then everybody is being accused of committing corruption. That would not be fair,” she stressed.

Liew, who pointed out that she has spent 20 years in PKR as the opposition, has struggled in stopping corruption and the party will continue with the struggles and act accordingly as the new government.

“If anyone is found guilty after investigations. We will hand it over to the party’s disciplinary committee to handle at the HQ level,” she assured.

During the ceremony, Liew lauded Wiitrac Elevator’s effort to bring the energy saving and green technology of Aritco Home Lift into Sabah.

“Aritco Home Lift provides customized and concept home lift or smart elevator for those existing and under construction buildings. I am impressed when I have been told it is hassle free during the entire installation process. It saves a lot of time and trouble for those who are interested to install a lift in their house, office or hotels,” she said.

“This smart elevator series, which achieves the highest energy saving, comes in a variety of design and materials.

“This is the right move as it benefits the residents in Sabah and also the economy in Sabah,” she added.
