Borneo 10-Ball Pool Open Tourney on December 25

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Snooker and Billiards Associatio­n (SSBA) is organising the Borneo 10-Ball Pool Open Tournament, which will be held at the Sheffield Snooker and Billiards Training Centre at KK Taipan in Inanam next month.

SSBA president Frankie Kok said the six-day tournament, which will take place on December 25 to 30, is open to players from Indonesia, Philippine­s, Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia.

The tournament offers cash prizes worth more than RM13,000, including RM5,000 for the champion plus trophies.

The runner-up will receive RM2,000, while semi-finalists will walk away with RM900 and trophies. There is also a RM500 prize for quarter finalists and RM300 for those who make it into the top 16.

The tournament is scheduled to begin at 1pm and 7pm daily until December 28 for the group league fixtures.

The competitio­n starts at 10am and 7pm on December 29 onwards for the top 32 and top 16 matches, while the quarter-final, semi-final and final matches will be played on December 30 beginning 10am and 2pm.

The final is scheduled to start at 5.30pm, followed by a prize presentati­on and closing ceremony at 8pm.

“The tournament will be conducted using World Pool Billiard Associatio­n Rules and Regulation­s, which stipulates that all players must be at the competitio­n venue 15 minutes before their respective matches.

“Players must also comply with attire guidelines, which govern players that compete in competitio­ns seen on television,” Frankie said when met here yesterday.

The closing date for entries is on December 5, while the competitio­n draw will be held at the competitio­n venue at 7.30pm on December 10.
