Barbra Streisand renews her threat to move to Canada
ANOTHER election cycle. Another round of American citizens mulling moves to other countries if the outcome doesn’t swing their way.
This time, it’s entertainer Barbra Streisand, who told the New York Times she’s been struggling with whether to uproot if Democrats don’t win control of the House next Tuesday.
“I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know,” she told the Times’ Maggie Haberman. “I’m just so saddened by this thing happening to our country. It’s making me fat. I hear what (President Donald Trump) said now, and I have to go eat pancakes now, and pancakes are very fattening.”
Streisand, who lives in California, told the newspaper she couldn’t think of anything positive Trump has done, and that the president “is trying to reverse reality.”
“Truth has always worked for me, so to see the truth defiled every day is very, very painful for me,” she added. “I only can do what I can do.”
Streisand has been promoting her new album, “Walls,” which she said was an outlet through which she could channel her frustration and anger at Trump.

In 2016, many of those people were Democrats including Lena Dunham, Snoop Dogg, Chelsea Handler, Bryan Cranston, Neve Campbell and, yes, Streisand — who vowed to leave the United States if Trump won, as the Guardian reported.
As the newspaper noted, however, all of them, including Streisand, have stayed put despite Trump’s presidency — for now.
