Five Sabah Hindu temples make donation to Tabung Harapan Malaysia
KOTA KINABALU: In true Deepavali spirit, five Hindu temples from Sabah donated a total of RM13,000 to Tabung Harapan Malaysia.
The donation came from the Sri Pasupathinath Alayam Temple, Kota Kinabalu and four other temples from Tawau, Sandakan, Kota Belud and Lok Kawi.
The donation was presented by Sri Pasupathinath Alayam Temple president Brig. Gen (R) Datuk A. Arulpragasam to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau during the temple’s Deepavali celebration on Tuesday.
The celebration was attended by some 1,000 guests from all race and creed.
“This year we have Buddhists, Catholics, Muslims. We are very happy to have them. This is very good for our inter-racial harmony, which is one of the main things that we want. We are not political, we are just a temple that is moving ahead,” Arulpragasam told reporters.
Meanwhile, Tangau said that the celebration proved that Malaysians, especially Sabahans, live in harmony and unity.
“We visited each other’s (open house) today. I see people of all religions here today, from Muslims to Christians and many more. All of them have come here (to celebrate). This is what makes Sabah special. This proves that we are in harmony and that we have good relationship with each other,” Tangau said.
