-

KOTA KINABALU: AirAsia will enhance connectivity from Kota Kinabalu with daily direct flights to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam starting 18 January 2019.

The new service marks AirAsia’s fourth new international destination from Kota Kinabalu this year after Bangkok, Macao and Kunming.

AirAsia Malaysia chief executive officer Riad Asmat said, “We are pleased to announce a new international route from our evergrowing hub in Kota Kinabalu. This year itself we have flown more than 4.9 million guests to and from Sabah.

“With daily flights between Kota Kinabalu and Bandar Seri Begawan, we will be operating a total of 356 weekly flights out of Kota Kinabalu, our second biggest hub in Malaysia.

“We believe this new route will further put the Land Below the Wind on the map as a thriving tourist destination and contribute to the local economy.”

Riad also thanked the Sabah state government for their continuous support.

“As our network grows and capacity increases, we hope the state government will set up a much needed low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) in Kota Kinabalu to further accommodate our growth plans.”

AirAsia is offering special promotional all-in-fares from Kota Kinabalu to Brunei from RM36 onwards. These fares are available for booking on airasia.com and the AirAsia mobile app starting November 8, 2018 until November 18, 2018 for travel between January 18 and March 30, 2019.
