“The Government appreciates the services and contributions of civil servants in various fields who assist the Government in administering, managing and delivering services to the people,” Shafie said when tabling the 2019 State Budget at the State Legislative Assembly, yesterday.

“In line with the announcement of the Federal Government, the Sabah Government also agreed to provide a Special Payment of RM500 to all state civil servants.

“The special payment will be made available in December 2018. With this appreciation, we expect the public service as the administrative machinery of the Government will bring Sabah to a greater excellence,” he elaborated.

Separately, Shafie proposed that scholarships should given to civil servants for further studies or for them to attend short courses at overseas prestigious institutions such as University of Cambridge and University of Oxford in England as well as Harvard University in the USA.

“Starting next year, RM9.56 million will provided for this purpose under the Public Service Department (PSD) for local and international training courses,” said Shafie, who is also Finance Minister.

The allocation is in line with the Government’s plan to encourage continuous lifelong learning culture.
