KOTA KINABALU: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams will begin on November 13 with 40,381 candidates throughout Sabah.
State Education Department director Datuk Hajah Maimunah Suhaibul said the exam would commence for a month till December 31, in 314 centres comprising government schools, government-assisted schools, private schools and religious schools.
“A total of 3,379 examination officers will be on duty throughout the time. Meanwhile, 125 special needs students will also be taking the exam,” she said, at a press conference announcing the examination, yesterday.
At the same time, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) will also commence from November 13 for Semester 3/2018 candidates, November 22 for Semester 1/2018 repeat candidates and Semester 1/2019 candidates, as well as November 29 for Semester 2/2018 repeat candidates.
A total of 15,664 STPM candidates are to sit for the exam, said Maimunah, 13 of which are students with special needs.
She urged all candidates to be sure of their examination dates and to arrive early for their respective papers. She also advised candidates not to commit wrongdoings that could render their results invalid.
“I hope all candidates abide by the set Standard Operating Procedures to avoid unwanted circumstances.
“I would also like to remind officers that all registered candidates have the right to sit for their papers and to ensure that they do.
“In case of extreme weather conditions, proactive measures need to be taken at all levels, especially by the District Education Office and schools, to be put in place if need be,” she said.
