Sarawak, federal to maintain coordination in projects — DCM
KUCHING: The Sarawak government and the federal Ministry of Rural Development will continue to ensure welloiled coordination as far as the implementation of federal projects in Sarawak is concerned.
In stating this, Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas says the coordination also includes making sure that there would not be any duplication in the implementation of projects.
According to him, there are now two committees tasked with overseeing such coordination.
“One committee is at officers’ level, while the other is chaired by myself and Rural Development Minister Rina Harun,” he told reporters here after receiving a visit from Deputy Minister of Rural Development Sivarasa Rasiah at the former’s office in DUN Complex yesterday.
The deputy chief minister said the subject on coordination in implementing federal projects in Sarawak was the main outcome from Sivarasa’s visit yesterday.
Meanwhile Uggah, who is also Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, reiterated the focus on rural infrastructure in 2019 Sarawak Budget.
Under the budget, he said Sarawak government would set aside RM6.049 billion for rural development.
“If we look at the state budget, the core business of rural development in Sarawak is to increase infrastructure coverage. These are priorities in the budget,” he said.
