Man fined for threatening kitchen helper
KOTA KINABALU: A man was fined RM25, in default, two days’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for threatening a kitchen helper.
Artevenus Agus, 46, who appeared before magistrate Afiq Agoes, had pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 8 (1) (e) of the Minor Offences Ordinance which carries a maximum fine of RM25 or jail up to a week, upon conviction.
The accused admitted to threatening the 20-year-old victim at a residential area in Penampang on October 28.
In a separate case, the same court adjourned to December 12 a case of an unemployed man charged with threatening his sister.
The court put off the case of Irwan Syah Aliamat, 33, pending an instruction from the deputy public prosecutor’s office after the victim, who was present in court decided to withdraw her complaint against the accused.
Irwan was accused of threatening to injure Hazlinah, 42, at Kampung Sembulan Lama here at 9am on September 28.
The alleged offence was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The magistrate granted RM2,000 bail on the accused with two local sureties, pending disposal of the case.
Prosecuting officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted in both cases.
