Man fined for threatenin­g kitchen helper

KOTA KINABALU: A man was fined RM25, in default, two days’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for threatenin­g a kitchen helper.

Artevenus Agus, 46, who appeared before magistrate Afiq Agoes, had pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 8 (1) (e) of the Minor Offences Ordinance which carries a maximum fine of RM25 or jail up to a week, upon conviction.

The accused admitted to threatenin­g the 20-year-old victim at a residentia­l area in Penampang on October 28.

In a separate case, the same court adjourned to December 12 a case of an unemployed man charged with threatenin­g his sister.

The court put off the case of Irwan Syah Aliamat, 33, pending an instructio­n from the deputy public prosecutor’s office after the victim, who was present in court decided to withdraw her complaint against the accused.

Irwan was accused of threatenin­g to injure Hazlinah, 42, at Kampung Sembulan Lama here at 9am on September 28.

The alleged offence was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The magistrate granted RM2,000 bail on the accused with two local sureties, pending disposal of the case.

Prosecutin­g officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted in both cases.
