Anwar agrees PH should stop playing blame game

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR presidentelect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim agrees that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government should look to the future and stop playing the blame game on the previous government.

He said that although he believes PH should not be obsessed with the past, he understood why ministers in the new administration have to point out the wrongdoings of the previous administration.

The newly-elected Port Dickson Member of Parliament (MP) noted there are strong and compelling cases to prove that because of the excessive expenditure and decisions on the past, PH have to endure and deal with the problem in the present time.

“We understand people want to know what is next, what is our plans for the present time and for the future. But that should not stop us (PH) from expressing our views or coming out with new evidence (against the previous government),” he told reporters when met at Parliament’s lobby here yesterday.

Anwar was commenting on the statement made by former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin who said that PH government needs to concentrate on delivering its promises to the people who voted for them in the 14th General Election and forget what happened in the past.

According to Daim, what happened in the past is history, and the new administration should stop pointing fingers at the previous government.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment on the performance of ministers from PKR, Anwar said he was generally satisfied although there were complaints made about their performance.

“They are trying their best. Of course we monitor and discuss and I think its timely we reflect within the party to make sure they perform well. But so far I am quite happy with their performance and I always advise them to be more positive,” he added.
