Tawau team win ADUN Lahad Datu Cup

LAHAD DATU: Youths are encouraged to be active in sports which could serve as a platform to share ideas for the local developmen­t.

The Assistant Minister of Rural Developmen­t, Dumi Pg Masdal said youths play an important role in bringing changes to the country.

Dumi said youths could contribute to boost the national economy and that would prosper the country and its people.

“Youths could gather in such sport activity in which during this kind of activity, youth could produce various creative and fresh ideas that should be given attention by the leader,” he said this in his speech at the ADUN Lahad Datu Cup Futsal Tournament which was delivered by Community Developmen­t Officer, Salsagap Pg Masdal.

In his speech, Dumi also welcomed the support and cooperatio­n from the youth associatio­ns in an effort to develop this area for the benefit of all parties.

Meanwhile, the oraganizin­g chairman, Tonny Ahmad said a total of 22 teams participat­ed in the tournament that aims at promoting healthy lifestyle through sport.

Tonny added that such tournament should be made an annual event as it could serve as a platform to search for new talents and encourage the people, especially the youths to be involved in sports.

The tournament was won by Sainbara FT from Tawau and collected prizes worth RM2,000 as well as the ADUN Lahad Datu Cup after defeating Sri Kumande 3-1.
