National-level Maulidur Rasul celebratio­n on Nov 20

KUALA LUMPUR: The nationalle­vel Maulidur Rasul celebratio­n to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad will be held on Tuesday (Nov 20) at the Plenary Hall, Putrajaya Internatio­nal Convention Centre (PICC) beginning at 8.30am.

In a statement yesterday, Malaysian Islamic Developmen­t Department director-general Datuk Mohamad Nordin Ibrahim said some 4,000 participan­ts representi­ng contingent­s from government and private agencies, statutory bodies, uniformed bodies, non-government­al organisati­ons (NGOs), students from the Higher Education Institutio­ns and the schools will attend the gathering.

He said Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim will grace the ceremony which will also be attended by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.

“Various events have been planned to enliven the celebratio­n this time,” said the statement, adding that the highlight of the event this year would be the presentati­on of the Premier and National-Level Maulidur Rasul awards.

“The Premier Award winner will receive a cash prize of RM50,000 with a trophy and certificat­e of appreciati­on. Other Maulidur Rasul Award recipients (four individual­s) will receive RM20,000 in cash with trophies and certificat­es of appreciati­on,” he said.

Members of the public can watch the live broadcast of the event on RTM1. It will also be aired on AlHijrah TV and radio stations under RTM as well as IKIM FM radio.
