National-level Maulidur Rasul celebration on Nov 20
KUALA LUMPUR: The nationallevel Maulidur Rasul celebration to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad will be held on Tuesday (Nov 20) at the Plenary Hall, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) beginning at 8.30am.
In a statement yesterday, Malaysian Islamic Development Department director-general Datuk Mohamad Nordin Ibrahim said some 4,000 participants representing contingents from government and private agencies, statutory bodies, uniformed bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), students from the Higher Education Institutions and the schools will attend the gathering.
He said Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim will grace the ceremony which will also be attended by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.
“Various events have been planned to enliven the celebration this time,” said the statement, adding that the highlight of the event this year would be the presentation of the Premier and National-Level Maulidur Rasul awards.
“The Premier Award winner will receive a cash prize of RM50,000 with a trophy and certificate of appreciation. Other Maulidur Rasul Award recipients (four individuals) will receive RM20,000 in cash with trophies and certificates of appreciation,” he said.
Members of the public can watch the live broadcast of the event on RTM1. It will also be aired on AlHijrah TV and radio stations under RTM as well as IKIM FM radio.
