Ministry receives RM5 million to help young entrepreneurs

-

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has allocated RM5 million to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports to help young entrepreneurs in Sarawak.

He said youths who aspire to become entrepreneurs could use the money as venture capital.

“However, they must be assessed first. With the allocation, we hope to help more Sarawakian youths who want to become entrepreneurs as they are the ones who will help to develop Sarawak in the future,” he said during the launching of TEDxKenyalang: Outreach the World conference at the old state legislative assembly here yesterday.

Abang Johari said applicants of the fund would be assessed by the TEDxKenyalang organisers.

“The money will be given to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports next year.”

He said it was important that youths who wanted to become successful be given all the assistance they need, and it would be a waste if talented Sarawakian were not given any sort of assistance.

Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Petra Jaya MP Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, TEDxKenyalang curator Zaiwin Kassim and other officials were among those present at the function.
