Suziana Miss Kebaya, Audrey Mrs Kebaya Sarawak

KUCHING: Suziana Damik and Audrey Isis were crowned Miss and Mrs Kebaya Sarawak 2018 respective­ly on Friday night.

Roxanne Lee and Priscillia Christophe­r were the first and second runners-up for the Miss category while Fujica Anggo and Norita Bangga were first and second runners-up for the Mrs category.

Miss and Mrs Kebaya Malaysia founder Jason Hee Jee Pin said this was the sixth year running that Miss and Mrs Kebaya Malaysia was held throughout Malaysia.

“We got support from all races especially from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. They give us full support and encouragem­ent,” he said in his welcoming speech during the crowning dinner at a hotel here on Friday.

Organised by Kuching Society for Community Leadership and Economic Developmen­t, winners of the Miss and Mrs Kebaya Sarawak 2018 will represent Sarawak at the Miss and Mrs Kebaya Malaysia to be held on Dec 15 in Kuala Lumpur.

Suziana was clearly shocked when she was crowned Miss Kebaya Sarawak but was hoping to be able to sharpen her speaking skills before representi­ng Sarawak at the national-level contest.

Audrey meanwhile said she felt a sense of responsibi­lity after winning the contest, and hoped to further improve her catwalking skills.

The internatio­nal edition of the Miss and Mrs Kebaya World will be held next year.

The glittering night was graced by the chief minister's wife Datuk Amar Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang.

Subsidiary titles given during the evening were Personalit­y Queen, Congeniali­ty Queen, Best Catwalk Queen, Photogenic Queen, Beautiful Smile Queen, Talent Queen, Social Media Queen and Elegant Queen.

For the Miss category, Suziana was awarded ‘Personalit­y Queen' and ‘Elegant Queen', Angeline Cynthia (Congeniali­ty Queen), Asnidah Roslan (Best Catwalk Queen), Stella Phillip (Photogenic Queen), Jasmine Wong (Beautiful Smile Queen) and Jessie Lau (Talent Queen and Social Media Queen).

In the Mrs category, Fujica was awarded ‘Personalit­y Queen' and ‘Best Catwalk Queen', Dayangku Norhasiba (Congeniali­ty Queen), Norita (Photogenic Queen), Clara Dan (Beautiful Smile Queen), Ezanoni Hadjeli (Talent Queen), Audrey (Social Media Queen) and Patricia (Elegant Queen).

The evening also witnessed a cake-cutting ceremony in conjunctio­n with the recent conferment of the ‘Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang' award to Juma'ani on Oct 13.
