Saifuddin thanks Rafizi, INVOKE for being game changer

SHAH ALAM: The PKR National Congress this time around is seen as a significant event as it is the first congress to be held after the 20-year-old party came into power in the 14th General Election (GE14).

PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said it is also the occasion where Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be making an official comeback.

“It was a sweet victory for the party in GE14. The long journey to our historic victory on May 9 also witnessed the rise of unprecedented volunteerism among the rakyat.

“A good friend of mine told me that it would be foolish for us to expect a different outcome when we were still doing the same thing and using the same methods.

“Here, I would like to take this opportunity to thank (Mohd) Rafizi (Ramli) and his team at INVOKE MALAYSIA for being the game changer,” he said in his welcoming address at the PKR National Congress yesterday.

Saifuddin Nasution said INVOKE harnessed the spirit of volunteerism among the rakyat and helped the party to campaign in a smarter way by targeting marginal seats with the help of data analytics.

“(It was) perfectly summed up by an article published by the Wall Street Journal on May 7, 2018, ‘Malaysia Elections: Opposition Seeks to Slay Goliath with Smarter Campaigning’. Thank you, Rafizi and team; due to your contributions, we have indeed slain the Goliath,” he said.

Saifuddin Nasution pointed out that PKR welcomes the return of Anwar in the party as the president and also as the prime minister-in-waiting. Anwar won the presidency uncontested in the PKR elections.

“The party is humbled by Anwar’s long and inspiring journey ‘from prison to the palace’, as he calls it. Our incoming president is now a member of parliament and also our incoming prime minister,” he said. - Bernama
