Encourage children to build up their capacity

-

KOTA KINABALU: Children are important human capital of the country, said Assistant Trade and Industry Minister Azhar Datuk Haji Matusin yesterday.

He said it was important that children be given the encouragement to build up their capacity while also looking after their welfare.

Speaking at a high tea event with the children of charity homes which has been held for the sixth time in conjunction with the 2018 World Children’s Day celebration at the Grand Borneo Hotel, Azhar also said the government encouraged the involvement of the corporate sector or any other organisations to work with the government to help uplift the welfare of children.

Azhar said the contribution could be in monetary form or material, as well as in the form of time spent, energy, support in both mental and spiritual as these could help generate changes and are meaningful to the children who are in need of them.

He also hoped for more Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategic partnerships to take place in the future.

Azhar urged the community to bring about what would be best for the children, such as love, education and attention, so that they could grow as confident individuals with good attitude.

He added that these children would also grow into highly competitive, creative, innovative and charismatic adults.

“They are the future leaders who would transform the country,” he said.
