Sabah’s Domino’s Pizza sets all-time new opening record
KOTA KINABALU: Domino’s Pizza has finally arrived in Sabah, 21 years after the opening of the first Domino’s branch in West Malaysia.
Domino’s Pizza held its grand opening at its Riverson Sembulan branch yesterday, the third branch in Sabah after the T1 Bundusan and Inanam Taipan branches.
“We are truly humbled by the support shown by our fans here. We definitely felt the warm welcome from Sabahans, especially with our record breaking open day,” Domino’s Pizza Malaysia and Singapore chief executive officer Ba U Shan-Ting said.
“The first store marked an alltime new record for the highest number of sales for opening week of a new store in Asia Pacific this year.
“On top of that, we also broke Malaysia’s record for best opening week in the past 20 years. All the hard work in setting up a new market was well worth it with such fantastic response from our customers,” he added.
Domino’s Pizza is expected to open two more branches in Sabah, one at ITCC Mall and the other in Sulaman.
Domino’s Pizza USJ was the first ever Domino’s branch in Malaysia. It was opened back in 1997.
The grand opening was officiated by Domino’s Pizza International (International and Asia Pacific Region) vice president Steven Pizziol and Domino’s Pizza Malaysia and Singapore executive chairman Datuk George Ting.
