Encourage students to achieve excellent results – Elopura rep
SANDAKAN: Elopura assemblyman Calvin Chong Ket Kiun graced the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) St Mary Convent's Excellence Award Ceremony 2018 here recently.
In his opening speech, Chong said he fully supported the organising of such programme as it motivated the students and reminded them to be prepared psychologically and intellectually in achieving better results.
“Achieving excellent result in examination is an important platform so that they could continue their studies in schools of their choice,” Chong said.
He also said that the government was committed in producing excellent students as it does not want people with third class mentality when the country had already had first class infrastructure.
“Hence, the government is hoping to see our children excel in various disciplines of knowledge. Skilled and competent human resource is the most important asset for the country to achieve its national mission,” Chong added.
Also present were SK St Mary Convent headmistress Choi Yu Wen; chairman of ParentsTeachers Association of SK St Mary Convent, Kelvin Kong; secretary of the School Board, Daniel Lo representing Rose Solibun; chairperson of Diocesan Education Commission for Diocesan Sandakan, teachers, award recipients and their parents.
