Ministry offers condolences to polytechnic accident victims’ families
PUTRAJAYA: The Education Ministry (KPM) has expressed sadness at the deaths of five staff and family members of the Sandakan Polytechnic in an accident in Kota Marudu, Sabah on Friday (Nov 23).
In a statement yesterday, KPM said the five deceased were Abdul Fattah Salehhudin (son); Annie Gideon (lecturer); Mohd Khaizuzafarin Bedalib (husband to Head of Department of General Studies); Suzannie Stephen Galaut (Lecturer) and Esther Michelle Son Gunben (Lecturer), while 12 people were injured.
The bus belonging to the Sandakan Polytechnic with 40 passengers including 20 staff, which was heading to Kudat from Sandakan for a programme, was one of three buses moving as early as 8 am. Most of the injured victims were treated at Ranau Hospital and Kota Marudu.
The management of the Sandakan Polytechnic had the contacted family members of the victims of the mishap and was extending all necessary assistance to them.
The whole KPM community, especially the Polytechnic and KPM Community Colleges, expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.
