-

SERDANG: The National Fishermen’s Association of Malaysia (Nekmat) is offering supplies of frozen fish as prizes to visitors who drop by at their pavilion during the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and AgroTourism (Maha) Show here.

All they have to do is guess the weight of the captivatingly beautiful red and white jellyfish being displayed in a transparent cylindrical tank at the Nekmat pavilion in Block A of the Maha exhibition site.

The ‘guess the weight of the jellyfish’ contest offers 100 days’ supply of frozen fish for the first prize winner; 60 days’ supply for the second prize winner while the third prize winner wins 30 days’ supply of fish.

The closing date of the contest is this Saturday Dec 1 and winners will be announced on the next day. To date, Nekmat has received over 1,000 entries.

According to Nekmat general manager Norizaman Ghazali the association wanted to try something different to attract visitors to their pavilion during the Maha exhibition this year.

“When more visitors visit our pavilion we will be able to create more awareness on Nekmat. We want to share with visitors especially fishermen, our technologies which will enable them to improve on their harvest.

“One of the technologies is the Fishing Site Identification (FSI) system which is capable of increasing the fishermen’s catch by up to 20 per cent,” he told Bernama when met at the Maha 2018 exhibition here yesterday. Bernama
