USIM forges collaborat­ions with four Asian Islamic institutio­ns

NILAI: Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) yesterday signed MoUs with four educationa­l institutio­ns in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippine­s to further strengthen its network of internatio­nal cooperatio­n.

USIM was represente­d by Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Musa Ahmad while Madrasah Ahmadiah, Indonesia was represente­d by Principal Ahmad Lutfi Samae; Mindanao State University, Philippine­s by Vice-Chancellor of Administra­tion and Finance, Atty Saaduddin Masacal Alauya, and Fathoni University, Thailand, by Student Developmen­t Division Deputy Rector Dr Abdullah Uma.

USIM also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and MoU with Universita­s Darussalam (UNIDA), Indonesia, represente­d by its Rector Prof Dr Amal Fathullah Zarkasyi.

The signing of the MoUs was witnessed by Negeri Sembilan State Assembly speaker Zulkefly Mohamad Omar, USIM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Internatio­nal) Prof Dr Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman and USIM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof Datuk Dr Roshada Hashim.

Musa, when met by Bernama after the event, said the MoUs were aimed at establishi­ng cooperatio­n in terms of training programmes, research and developmen­t projects, staff and student exchanges as well as other collaborat­ions.

"Under the training programme, we have placed staff in Indonesia to exchange ideas and work experience­s, and will next head to Thailand and the Philippine­s.”
