35 sailors participat­e in Sandakan Regatta 2018

SANDAKAN: The recently concluded Sandakan RegattaSan­dakan River Race - Sabah Closed 2018 was another successful event organised by the Sandakan Yacht Club.

The three-day regatta was held at the sea fronting Sandakan Yacht Club from November 23 to 25. It is an annual event which is listed in the Sabah Sailing Associatio­n’s calendar of activities.

Thirty-five sailors from Sandakan Yacht Club, Kinabalu Yacht Club, Tawau Yacht Club and Navy Yacht Club Kota Kinabalu participat­ed in this year’s regatta.

The closing and prize presentati­on ceremony was held on the evening of November 25 at the Sandakan Yacht Club and was attended by the club’s Honorary Vice Commodore Datuk Charles O. Pang, James Pua and Royal Malaysian Navy Region Two headquarte­rs deputy commander Commander Azeman Yusoff.

Sandakan Yacht Club commodore Paul Wong in his speech gave the thumbs up to the organising committee spearheade­d by vice commodore cum adviser to the organising committee James Leong, and organising chairperso­n Melissa Eng for yet another successful regatta.

Sandakan Yacht Club sailor Abby Lau Sie Err was selected to attend training with Sabah sailors in Kota Kinabalu from November 28 to December 6, 2018.
