Boy allegedly beaten to death by father

SEMENYIH: A 10-year-old boy has died after he was allegedly beaten by his father here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the case was brought to their attention after a doctor at the Serdang Hospital accident and emergency unit lodged a report about a young boy who was brought in to the hospital in an unconscious state.

“The doctor checked the boy and pronounced him dead.

“Further checks on the body revealed physical injuries to his head, legs, arms and torso,” ACP Ahmad Dzaffir said when contacted yesterday.

He said the victim was the second of three siblings and under his father’s care as the mother left home about two months ago.

“A post-mortem was carried out on the body at around 2pm yesterday. The boy was positively identified by his mother and siblings.

“The post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was multiple instances of blunt force trauma,” he said.

ACP Ahmad Dzaffir added that the boy’s father, a 43-year-old temple priest, has been remanded.

“We have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said.
