Prizes galore at KDMM Charity Shield match
KOTA KINABALU: Four motorcyles, 20 bicycles and 50 hampers are up for grabs as lucky draw prizes in conjunction with the 2nd KDMM Football League 2018/2019 Charity Shield match at the Keningau Stadium tomorrow.
Announcing the prizes here yesterday, co-organising chairman Henry Saimpon said, “Entry is free to the stadium and all the fans need to do is to register their names starting 8am to get the lucky draw ticket.
“The first batch of lucky winners will be announed at 3pm while the rest during the opening ceremony of the tournament,” he said.
Henry said the opening ceremony was scheduled at 4pm but there would be side activities or programmes lined up, all of which would start at 8am.
Among the activities or programmes are sports carnival, blood donation campaign and free health check.
The sports carnival will include the seven-a-side football competition comprising participating teams from the KDMM Football League except for Keningau and Papar, who will face off in the Charity Shield match.
“The competition is like a warmup matches as well as a platform for the participating teams to get to know each other.
“The (KDMM) league will only kick off in January,” added Henry who is also Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) Malaysia Youth chief.
For the record, 32 teams will be taking part in the KDMM League, namely the league defending champions Keningau, the FA Cup title holders Papar, Sipitang, Telupid, Kimanis, DBKK, Kota Belud, Tambunan, Kadamaian, Kudat, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Labuan, Tongod, Sandakan, Kiulu, Kepayan, Putatan, Melalap, Kuala Penyu, Nabawan, Sook, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Ranau, Kundasang, Kemabong, Inanam, Penampang, Sugud, Liawan and Sepanggar.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Frankie Poon, who is also the co-organising chairman, will officiate at tomorrow’s opening ceremony.
KDM Malaysia in collaboration with the ministry will organise the KDMM Football League that offers over RM300,000 in cash prizes.
