BizRace second edition offers SMEs opportunities to grow

JOHOR BAHRU: AmBank Group has returned with the second edition of BizRace, a business challenge, designed to offer small and medium enterprises (SMEs) learning experience and media exposure, as well as the opportunities to scale and grow its business.

Business Banking Managing Director Christopher Yap Huey Wen said the challenge would see 100 participants compete against each other to pitch their business model.

“The top 100 applicants (to the challenge) will be selected based on their plans for scalability and growth, and they will be invited to attend a series of pitching sessions with an experienced panel of judges,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

The panel of judges, Yap said, would then narrow the selection to the top 30, top 10 and finally, the top three.

“The competition is open to businesses KUALA LUMPUR: ABeam Consulting Pte. Ltd. of Singapore has acquired 70 per cent of shares in LightStream Analytics Pte. Ltd of Singapore with all the remaining shares to be purchased by 2021.

The deal is part of an ongoing effort by ABeam Consulting to expand its data analytics service offerings throughout Southeast Asia, according to a statement.

The agreement will enable ABeam Consulting to support clients to strengthen their business transformation capabilities through the application of data analytics.

Founded in 2006, LightStream is a provider of analytics and other data-related services throughout Southeast Asia.

ABeam Consulting President Toshinori Iwasawa said: "By integrating the operating for more than one year and with an annual turnover less than RM100 million,” he said.

Yap said RM2 million worth of prizes, including the opportunity to participate in executive development programmes in and outside Malaysia and, a field trip to China are up for grabs.

He said the biggest challenge faced by local SMEs would be the lack of knowledge and the failure to digitalise their businesses in line with current technology and business climate.

“SMEs cover 66 per cent of the total employment in the country and contributes 37.1 per cent to the national GDP,” Yap added.
