Borneo Bug Fest 2018 attracts Brunei, Indonesian participants
KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Bug Fest helps promote Kota Kinabalu City tourism attractions to the international visitors, said Kota Kinabalu City Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai.
Yeo stated that the event, held by Kelab Volkswagen Klasik Sabah (KVKS) with Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) for the second time, had always received encouraging and lively response from the local Kota Kinabalu City folk and tourists alike.
“I have been made to understand that participants not only come from around the city, but also from Labuan Federal Territory, Sarawak, districts of Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia as well as from outside Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam,” said Yeo, whose speech was delivered by DBKK director general Datuk Amrullah Kamal, during the Borneo Bug Fest 2018 officiating ceremony at DBKK compound here, yesterday.
“With the participation of international groups, it is able to further promote tourism attractions in Kota Kinabalu,” he added.
Yeo strongly urged other bodies and clubs like KVKS to host more exciting programs in Kota Kinabalu.
“Organizing such events can not only attract the fans of Volkswagen vehicles, but also the younger generation,” he stressed.
According to KVKS president Alijus Sipil, whose speech was read by KVKS patron Datuk Jaimin Samitah, the twoday event had attracted 80 participants including those from Kalimantan in Indonesia, this year.
He said the event was a the tenth held in Sabah, thus far.
