- By Shalina R.

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said he would declare his assets to the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission (MACC) as he had “nothing to hide”.

The Semporna MP, is amongst 13 parliamentarians, including PKR president and Port Dickson MP, who had yet to declare their assets to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“I have declared it in the past. But it’s okay if they want it to be declared, I will,” he said when met after the Sabah State District Officers Conference here yesterday.

“I have told MACC back then, but maybe this is for parliament. When I was investigated, I was asked how much stock I had,” he recalled of his arrest, a day before his 60th birthday and after nearly four hours of questioning by MACC, in October 2017.

“We will be doing that if that is the requirement. We will do. Just that maybe because of the lack of time but that is not the reason. We cannot give excuses too much. We will fulfill. God willing, nothing to hide,” he assured the press.

According to MACC website, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, Putatan MP Awang Husaini Sahari and Labuan MP Datuk Rozman Isli were amongst those who have yet to declare their assets as of December 10.

Several MPs, including Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister and Silam MP Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi as well as Law Minister and Batu Sapi MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong, have declared their monthly earnings but not their assets.
