46 beauties to compete for Miss Tourism International 2018

PETALING JAYA: Stunners from 46 countries will be competing for the queen's title in the 21st edition of the Miss Tourism International (MTI) 2018 World Final, which will be held at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa here on Dec 21.

Themed ‘Glitz and Glamour', the beauty pageant will place Malaysia in the global limelight as the beauties strut their stuff on the final stage.

The contest which also serves as a platform to educate and promote tourism and cultural exchange among participating delegates will also see the belles taking part in tourism-related and promotional activities to be held from Dec 7 to Dec 22.

D'Touch International Managing Director Tan Sri Danny Ooi said the contest will be in alignment with the event's objective of ‘Promoting Tourism, Culture and Friendship” while empowering the delegates to propagate values in their respective countries.

"The beauty contest was mooted to channel tourism to create and foster new relationships among the delegates while nurturing a better and closer understanding of one another's national cultures, customs and traditions, he told a press conference on the launch of Miss Tourism International 2018 World Final here, yesterday.

Also present,Tourism Malaysia Chairman, Datuk Ahmad Shah Hussein Tambakau.

Besides a 21 year-old student, Caenne Ng who will be representing Malaysia, other contestants who would be competing are from Armenia, Australian, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam .

Beside the main MTI World Final title, there would be four other titles to be won namely Miss Tourism Metropolitan International, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International, Miss Tourism Global and Dreamgirl of The Year International.

There will also be subsidiary titles to be awarded such as Best in National Costume, Best in Social Media, Miss Friendship, Miss popularity and Best in Talent. - Bernama
