Duo jailed for keeping stolen properties

KOTA KINABALU: A 58-year-old man was yesterday sentenced to 10 months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here for having in his possession stolen supplement pills.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie imposed the sentence on Vun Chau Lin after he pleaded guilty to having in his possession two bottles of Pristin Omega-3 Fish Oil 1200 mg worth RM376.82 from the personal care section of a premises in Inanam on December 7.

The accused was charged and convictedu­nderSectio­n411oftheP­enal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine, upon conviction.

In a separate case, a kitchen helper, with previous conviction­s for keeping stolen properties, was jailed 12 months by the same court for committing a similar offence.

Wan Adzuawanan Jasnan, 22, admitted to keeping a stolen grass cutter machine at a car park lot of an apartment here on October 30.

The court ordered Wan Adzuawanan to serve his jail term consecutiv­ely with his previous jail sentences.

Meanwhile, his co-accused, Mohd Iq Ruzaini Mahadi, 23, claimed trial to committing a similar offence. His case will be re-mentioned on December 14 for further pre-trial case management.
