Creativity at The One Academy

-

AT The One Academy, we ensure creativity is at the heart of all that we do. Be it in our courses, our classes or our educators, we strive to ensure that the experience students receive is steeped with creativity.

As a leading art and design college, the courses we provide, such as Advertising and Graphic Design, Illustration, Digital Media Design and more all cater to this industry.

However, creativity is not something that exists solely in arts or design. Everything that we do requires creativity whether it is business, science, medicine and more. Creativity is needed in all that we do. The word creativity is derived from the base word create.

This leads to many people believing that creating something new makes one creative, whereas taking an existing product, service, idea or concept and making it better is understood to be innovative. Following this, creativity can be both tangible and intangible depending on the item created. Others equate creativity with the mind, something equivalent to intelligence or common sense. This makes it more mental than physical.

Studies show that those who have a healthy balance of creativity often become more successful than those who don’t possess the particular trait. This begs the question of whether creativity is a product of nature or if it is nurtured?

There is no clear cut answer to this question. However, this just means that there are a multitude of answers to choose from, and not a single one of them is wrong.

Creativity is a trait, a skill, a personality type and it is also an item, product or service that is unlike any other.

Some people are born creative whereas others are bred creative.

A quick search online reveals countless animals coming up with creative way to one-up their human counterparts, which suggests creativity is present not only in humans but animals too.

However, more and more people are falling victim to the idea that creativity is not as important as intelligence, bravery, empathy and so on.

In Malaysia, the lesser popular creative or Arts stream is seen as a dumping ground for all those who didn’t make the cut into the Science stream. This could not be further from the truth.

During the recently held Malaysian Top 10 Young Artists Awards 2018, guest of honour YB Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan commented that when she was in her schooling years “it was a myth back then that only those who study science will become successful”.

This leads to many forcing themselves to study science even if it is not their area of interest. But today, this is different as there is much support for the arts as well as the science.

At The One Academy, we understand that creativity is vital in all aspects of life. The students at The One Academy are given many opportunities to experience creativity as well as nurture it to reach greater heights.

This is not only in education and within the classroom but is also practiced out of the four walls through workshops, talks, sharing sessions, Masterclasses and more.

We provide a host of different courses as well as 3+0 UK bachelor’s degree programmes in partnership with one of the top ranked universities in the UK, the University of Hertfordshire where young aspiring youths will be able to pursue an excellent UK design education locally and acquire uncompromised creative education.

In addition, The One Academy has also formed official affiliations with reputable design universities and colleges in UK, Australia, US, New Zealand and more, providing wider selections for our graduates to further their studies.
