The truth shall prevail, says Christina

-

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Christina Liew has declined to comment on the call to revoke her appointment as Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chief.

Christina, who is also Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, said she never responded to untrue stories and hearsay.

“The truth shall prevail,” she said when asked by the media after meeting with a delegation from the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) here yesterday.

“I never respond because I know how many supported me.

“Anwar (PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) had come and counted. And I was appointed as the chairperson for the state leadership council (MPN) for Sabah.”

Out of the 26 divisions, Christina said she could count who would be voting for whom.

“There is only one person talking, the others don’t talk. It does not matter. I believe in democracy.”

She said she would issue a statement in due course.

A group of 12 PKR division chiefs in Sabah, comprising Libaran, Sandakan, Silam, Beluran, Tawau, Kalabakan, Ranau, Kudat, Tuaran, Sepanggar, Tenom and Beaufort, have voiced their dissatisfaction over Christina’s appointment as Sabah PKR chief and called for her position to be revoked.

Their spokesperson Rahimah Majid, who is also PKR Supreme Council member, claimed that Christina’s appointment was not made in the spirit of democracy which PKR has upheld for so long.
