Win-win outcome on Wisma Tionghua project expected

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) is awaiting a response from the developer, Arah Permai Sdn Bhd, on the offer of its terms and conditions to the joint venture partner for the delayed Wisma Tionghua project.

Its president, Tan Sri Andrew Liew Sui Fatt, is optimistic that a win-win outcome could be reached.

The project is a joint venture between land owners SUCCC and the United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu (USCCAKK) and developer Arah Permai Sdn Bhd.

“Both SUCCC and USCCAKK have reached a consensus on the terms and conditions, which we have forwarded to Arah Permai. We hope the developer will give us a reply as soon as possible, given that the conditions were reasonable,” he said.

Liew said both associations had given a two-week time frame for Arah Permai to decide, though they could be accommodating with the deadline.

“I believe we will reach a decision by the end of the year,” he said after the SUCCC Executive and Supervisory Committee meeting here yesterday.

He said the new State Government had approved the land use to be converted for commercial purposes and extension of the land title for 99 years starting January 1, 2019.

“It will be best if Arah Permai could add value to Wisma Tionghua now that the land use has been approved for conversion to commercial use,” Liew said.

Meanwhile, a delegation from the Johor Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry had a dialogue session with SUCCC after the meeting.
