‘Return Sarawak’s rights without delay’

-

KUCHING: Sarawak should be given the powers enshrined under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) without any procrastination.

A political analyst Datuk Peter Minos said there should not be anymore delay from the federal government.

“Just give back the powers as enshrined under MA63, no more fuss, no delay and no procrastination. Sarawak powers are for Sarawak, and must not be usurped by Kuala Lumpur,” Minos said yesterday.

He said in the present scenario, whereby Sarawak is fighting for its rights and powers under MA63 is akin to ‘begging for the return of things that rightfully belong to Sarawak in the first place’.

Minos, who is chairman of Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (KSMC), said the national oil company, Petronas, had also been making endless excuses for not giving extra money to Sarawak.

“Sarawakians are weary and tired of things coming from Kala Lmpur. All the talks of being fair and reasonable to Sarawak are just talks and empty promises.”

Minos, meanwhile, hoped for the best outcome from the special cabinet committee meeting in Putrajaya to review the restoration of Sarawak and Sabah’s status as partners in the Federation of Malaysia as enshrined in MA63.

Eventhough he expected ‘not much’ from the meeting, he nevertheless hoped for the best outcome for Sarawak.
