PFA boss refutes PFAM's claim about players' salary arrears

-

BANGI: The Perlis Football Association (PFA) have refuted allegations by the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) that they have not settled the Northern Lions players and coaches' salary arrears for last season.

PFA president, Datuk Ahmad Amizal Shaifit Ahmad Rafie, instead stressed that the players who featured last season had agreed to the arrears payment mechanism at a closed-door meeting earlier.

He also disclosed that PFA did not pay the salary arrears for the 2016 and 2017 seasons because the affected players could not submit any documents to verify their salaries.

“The players asked that the decisions taken at the closed-door meeting not be divulged to the public and I have to respect their wish. So, there is no issue regarding the 2018 salary arrears.

“For the 2016 and 2017 season salary arrears, we have no records, documents or contracts. As such, we cannot make any decisions,” Ahmad Amizal said.

He was commenting on PFAM president Izham Ismail's statement on Monday, which claimed that PFA had yet to settle the salary arrears for the 2018 season as well as not updating the arrears for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Ahmad Amizal, who was disappointed with PFAM for not meeting him first before releasing the statement, said most teams in the Malaysia League (M-League) faced the same problem as Perlis.
