KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco), a government agency that is exposed to corporate bureaucracy, has called on its personnel to always maintain their principles.

“As a government agency that assists the government to enhance its financial performance, investment and the community’s socio-economy, Sedco will always be faced with corporate bureaucracy.

Without the honesty and integrity of its personnel, Sedco would surely be an easy target for abuse of power and corruption,” its chairman, Datuk Dr. Richard Sakian Gunting, said at the Sedco Group Anti-Corruption Pledge (IBR) closing ceremony cum Gearing Up For Corporate Liability briefing held at the Hyatt Hotel on Wednesday.

The newly appointed chairman reminded his fellow staff that it is vital for the agency to maintain its corruption-free standard to preserve the good image of the government.

Gunting said he is confident that Sedco and all its subsidiaries would continue to maintain its efficient governance.

He also said that Sedco would empower the management of its Integrity Unit so that it can reach the optimum and most effective level.

“This is in line with the government’s instruction in a circular to improve our integrity management,” he added.

During the event, 28 Sedco’s subsidiaries undertook the IBR and signed the integrity document.

Among those who were present were State MACC deputy director, Zulkefle Abd Hamid, and Sedco general manager, Datuk Pengiran Saifuddin Pg. Tahir.
